Vehicles in German Town Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The fluid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Police then located numerous other vandalized vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report early analysis suggest the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official said the incident rendered him speechless and had to be solved rapidly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the far-right terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine victims by a assailant targeting residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
