I'll overwhelm 'serious combatant' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer will face Jake Paul in an eight-bout contest which will be shown in real-time on Netflix.

British boxer Anthony Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "overpower" his opponent as the two fighters met personally to build hype for the upcoming boxing match.

Ex two time world boxing king Anthony Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I'm going to damage his features and hurt his body. My goal is to show I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I will genuinely try to hurt him. That's my goal."

Respectful Exchange

Despite these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - usually recognized for his showmanship - exchanged pleasantries and remained civil with each other.

Paul rather criticized ex Joshua opponent the Cameroonian fighter and described him as "not serious" after Ngannou declined a fight offer.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK opponent Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'The Gypsy King' states he will put on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul is superior to Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," Joshua commented.

"I respect him for that."

Serious Opponent

Despite stating he plans to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua chose not to talk badly about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he remarked.

Paul's Background

Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has primarily fought MMA fighters or faded names since turning professional.

He lost to Briton Tommy Fury in last year.

Commercial Success

However, the inexperienced fighter remains one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, regularly earning massive paydays.

Forecast and Belief

The 28 year old predicted a stoppage in round four or five and stated he would stop the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently in the works for 2026.

"The next fight will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Jake Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As the two fighters met for the customary stare-down, with their size difference clearly visible, it highlighted just how unlikely this complete situation is - and how astonishing it is that the bout is truly proceeding.
