19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a difficult year, winning just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in specific - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with long-term mentor Gilles Cervara.
Now working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.
This marks Medvedev's initial title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since March of the previous year.
The win also signifies he has won 21 championships at 21 various competitions.
"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.
The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.
Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an better service.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, winning four of the last five exchanges to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.
The opponent defended 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
